Dylan Wright

DRILLING ENGINEER : BRITISH PETROLEUM
Using Real Time Analytics to shorten the learning curve while drilling horizontal wells in an appraisal type program

Discussion on the challenges and successes of how we implemented performance focused workflows and learning in the field using real time insights. We started a horizontal program in a field where it was all verticals before. I will share our lessons on how having the ability to analyze drilling insights quickly helped us to shorten the learning curve in an appraisal type program.

Hans Jacob Lund

DRILLING ENGINEER : CONOCO PHILLIPS
Using Real Time Analytics to experiment new approaches to drill wells  and reduce costs in  the Bakken

In today’s world of big databases and statistics, we are set up to compare wells based on pre-determined milestones.  This works great if you are doing standard operations that comply with the milestones; not so much if you are trying new approaches.  An example of this is our intermediate section is split up in our database from drillout to KOP (two bits), and KOP to landing point.  When we trialed combining the lower vertical bit section and the curve section, our statistics became useless.  We will share how Real Time Data Analytics  at your fingertips can help not just try new approached but implement them as best practices across the entire fleet.

Brett J. Tritton

DRILLING ENGINEER : CONTANGO OIL AND GAS
Using Real Time Analytics to manage field performance expectations and accurately plan AFEs

Presentation will highlight how we are leveraging management and engineering workflows to compile performance data and lessons learned, driving well-to-well performance and enhancing real-time, data-driven decision making. Using a single source of truth helps instantly uncover the roles that geologic and mechanical factors play in well performance and improves our ability to accurately plan wells and generate AFEs.

Chris Caskey

DRILLING ENGINEER : MARATHON OIL
How MRO Effectively Leverages Real-Time Analytics to Influence the Field: A Focus on Bit RPM to Improve Lateral Drilling

It is a common problem to have a communication disconnect and difficulty sharing data between the office and field operations teams. Chris will explain how he was able to bridge this the gap using an analytics platform to create a mutual learning experience of how to drill faster, focusing on motor optimization in the lateral.

Andrew N. Hunter

DRILLING ENGINEER : GUIDON ENERGY
Accelerated Optimization of Slimhole Lateral BHAs (and Farewell to Manual Labor in Excel)

Presentation will demonstrate examples of how we have accelerated optimization of slimhole lateral BHAs by reducing engineering analysis time to a fraction of the previous Excel-based analysis time. This led to a significant collapse in daily workflow inefficiencies, allowing a focus on actual engineering decisions opposed to data preparation.

Brian Cocchierre

DRILLING ENGINEER : SRC Energy
Using Big Data Analytics to further increase operational efficiencies in the DJ Basin

Presentation will highlight how we leveraged big data analytics to move from experience-based to fact-based engineering decisions in the DJ Basin. This helped us identify and increase our operational efficiencies further than we had previously assumed possible. The nature of the single source of truth platform has enabled us to make better, faster decisions and increased our engineering bandwidth, allowing us to improve communications with the rig, facilitate large scale lookbacks to factor in more variables influencing well delivery, and drill down into crew-based performance metrics, allowing us to focus on opportunities that were previously hidden

Dakota Murdoch

DRILLING ENGINEER : ASCENT RESOURCES
Using Real Time Analytics to simplify daily morning meetings and drive accountability

Presentation will highlight examples on how we have reduced previous daily inefficiencies in conducting daily morning meetings to simplify our interactions with peers and field to optimize daily operations and remove guess work.  The real time analytics with up to minute data amplifies our insights to see complete picture fleet wide which helps further drive new best practices in the field and m tie it back to performance expectations.

Jordan Meyer

DRILLING ENGINEER : NOBLE ENERGY
“Utilizing Big Data Analytics to Optimize Regional Geological Roadmap and Fine-Tune Drilling Parameters”

Even when drilling on a single pad, each well’s geology can be drastically different. How can Drilling Engineers effectively track these geological changes and better plan for the future? What was previously a very time consuming task (or left to Geologists) is now made simple and effective with real-time data and analytics. Learn from Jordan how he has leveraged software to build a geological roadmap that, in turn, allowed him to optimize his drilling parameters to reduce unplanned trips and reach TD faster
